| The Skye Terrier
The Skye Terrier is a small to medium size dog that comes from the same background as the Scottish Terrier. Typically, the males weigh about 25 pounds when fully grown; and the females typically weigh about 24 pounds when fully grown. This breed of terrier reaches about 10 inches in height for a fully grown dog. However, their length is quite long.
The coat of a Skye Terrier is dense, straight, and harsh in appearance. Grooming this breed of dog can be a difficult task. Since his coat is rather thick and flowing, it is wise to have him professionally trimmed and groomed on occasion. The hair is long enough to partially cover the eyes and face of the dog.
In fact, even the ears of the Skye Terrier is fringed with hair. It takes a special kind of dog lover to properly take care of this breed of dog.
Additionally, the Skye Terrier is a wonderful watch dog alerting his master to strangers. Once upon a time, this breed of dog was trained as a game dog. In particular, otters, weasels, and badgers living in the rocks and burrows of the coast of Scotland were his prey.
