 | The Scottish Terrier
The Scottish Terrier is a small size dog. The adults typically weigh between 19 and 23 pounds when fully grown. This breed of terrier reaches about 11 inches in height for a fully grown male and about 10 inches in height for a fully grown female.
Typically, the coat of a Scottish Terrier is black or dark brindle, but it is known to appear in wheaten. His legs are well-boned and give him the appearance of being low to the ground. This popular breed of dog was once referred to as the Aberdeen Terrier.
The coat is wiry and harsh in appearance. Grooming this breed of dog is not a simple task. Since his coat is rather thick, it might be wise to have him professionally trimmed on occasion and to keep up with brushing his coat on a regular basis.
His gait is slow and purposeful, giving him the appearance of a dog on a mission. The ears of a Scottish Terrier are quite large and stand erect atop a neatly shaped head.
Additionally, the Scottish Terrier likes people and responds well to them. The Scottish Terrier is friendly and agreeable. Therefore, he makes a wonderful companion who enjoys joining in on the fun of family outings and activities.
