| Pet Dehydration - It's Not Just in Summer
Just like you, your pet responds to different temperatures. Pets can dehydrate easily in hot summer weather, but did you know that severe cold weather can be just as bad? No matter whether you have a dog or cat, a hamster or a parrot, pets always need plenty of liquids on hand.
Your pet sweats (or the equivalent) in the heat of summer, loosing body moisture in the cooling process. In cold weather, dry conditions will also pull moisture from your pet. Animals have been found in cold regions completely mummified from the dry atmosphere dehydrating their bodies.
Be sure to keep plenty of clean, fresh, water available to your pets all year round. Drop in ice cubes in the summer to help beat the heat. A bowl warmer might be in order if you are in particularly cold conditions. Warmed water can help keep your pet's body temperature up from the inside.
