| A New Twist on an Old Classic – The Balinese Cat
There is something at once familiar and different in the Balinese, and that is what makes them so special. The Balinese combines the power, grace, beauty and talkative nature of the Siamese and adds a beautiful new twist. Essentially a Siamese cat sporting an ermine coat, this breed has many fans all over the world. Those who have met a Balinese never forget the experience, and the breed is continuing to grow in popularity with every passing year.
Like the Siamese, the Balinese cat is possessed of a regal, almost royal carriage and demeanor, great intelligence, inquisitiveness, curiosity and of course great beauty as well. The Balinese is also quite a loving and affectionate cat, although they do tend to be a bit less vocal than the somewhat demanding Siamese.
The Balinese is also generally quite a hardy breed, and one without the special grooming needs common to many other breeds. Unlike many longhaired cats, with their double coats, the Balinese possesses a coat that does not mat. This smooth and silky coat makes grooming the Balinese quite simple, and the fastidious nature of the breed means that little human intervention is needed when it comes to grooming.
The body style of the Balinese is quite similar to that of the Siamese, and this type of cat generally has a firm, muscular and lithe appearance. The cat comes in a variety of point colors, with the seal point, lilac point, blue point and chocolate point being recognized for show competition. Whether as a show cat or a simple house pet, the Balinese is certainly a wonderful choice.
