 | A Look at the Beautiful Abyssinian
The cat we know today as the Abyssinian is thought to be one of the oldest of all cats in existence. Many who see this beautiful breed remark on the close resemblance to the cat statues found in Ancient Egypt, when cats were honored as royalty and treated as gods.
The Abyssinian of today does in fact resemble these ancient felines, and the breed is renowned for its strong muscular body, lithe appearance, large ears and glorious almond shaped eyes. The ticked coat of the Abyssinian also brings to mind the African wildcat which is the ancestor of all domestic felines.
The Abyssinian is one of the most popular breeds in the world of cat shows, and always a crowd pleaser as well. The ideal Abyssinian presents a distinctively ticked coat and a royal appearance. The ideal Abby is thin and fit, muscular and active, with an excellent temperament and healthy appearance.
These beautiful cats make excellent household companions as well, and they are well known for their active temperament and they tend to retain a kitten like activity level throughout their entire lives. Abyssinians are also quite vocal when they want something from the humans in their lives, and they are quite engaged and interested in the activities of their two legged friends.
