Dog Training Technique To Consider

Dog training techniques and method can vary from depending on the specific dog and trainer. While one dog owner may find reward systems highly effective when training their dog, another dog owner may get bests results from a shock collar. The following paragraphs will discuss two of the many different dog training techniques and methods dog owners use to effectively train their dogs.

Most often, dog owners will first try reward systems as tools in training their dogs. This applies to good behavior, as well as bad behavior. In using this dog training technique, the dog should be rewarded for any and all acceptable behavior. When the dog misbehaves, rewards are withheld. Common rewards for the dog include:

∑ edible dog treats ∑ dog toys ∑ affection

These rewards can each be used alone in training your dog, or in conjunction with one another.

When the reward system fails, some dog owners turn to more drastic methods of training their dogs. If their dog does not successfully respond to the reward system, many dog owners will attempt training with a shock collar. A shock collar is warn around the dog's neck, and can send low voltages shock waves through your dog with a touch of a button. This is not meant to hurt the dog, but only to make him uncomfortable enough that he thinks twice before he repeats his actions.

No matter which training techniques and methods you use to train your dog, there is one final piece of information to take into consideration. A dog's sense of logical reasoning is limited. This means it is extremely necessary to take action immediately when you are training your dog. If you fail to praise or scold your dog immediately after his action, he may not realize what he's being rewarded or punished for, when you do get around to doing it. Immediate action is essential to dog training success.
