| Dealing with Hypothermia in Pets
Hypothermia is an abnormally low body temperature, often caused by prolonged exposure to cold. In pets it can lead to a number of disagreeable health issues as well as death.
If your pet gets too cold, bring him into a warm area. Do not try to use extremes like hot water to thaw feet or rubbing to warm the ears. This could cause more harm to already damaged tissues. Do not try to feed yor pet brandy or other alcohol.
If your pet is responding well just to a change in temperature, you are likely all right. If your pet shows sign of pain in his feet, or pain when trying to move, a lack of appetite or thirst, or any other sign of human hypothermia, it's time to call the vet.
