The Dachshund can be found in historical accounts dating back to the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, when illustrations reflected badgers being hunted with dogs with elongated bodies, short legs and hound-type ears.

| | Dachshund Rescue of North America
DRNA is an organization with one sole purpose — rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing needy dachshunds and mostly dachshund mixes. We are a network of experienced rescue people throughout the United States and Canada who were previously doing rescue independently and realized the benefits of joining together and combining resources.

| | | | | | Central Texas Dachshund Rescue
Central Texas Dachshund Rescue rehabilitates and rehomes dachshunds in need of a second chance at life. CTDR was started in September of 2000. Our membership has grown yearly, providing more foster families and volunteers to help find loving, forever homes for our dachshunds. We were incorporated in September of 2001 and we received 501(c)3 status in February 2003. And, despite our name, we are no longer only in Central Texas, but have members and volunteers throughout the state.

We concentrate our efforts on those dogs who are scheduled for euthanasia. We have limited spaces and resources and try to save those resources for the dogs who truly need our services.

| | DARE to Rescue
Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education (DARE) is a no-kill, non-profit, 501(c)3 rescue group. As such DARE specializes in the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of dachshunds and dachshund-mixes regardless of age or health-related issues. As all of the DARE members are volunteers, 100% of every single penny donated to DARE is spent to further DARE's mission of the rescue, rehabiliation and re-homing of dachshunds.
